Define Trendy

Residents and newcomers to Uptown enjoy the kind of culture that includes sidewalk cafes on tree-lined streets offering the arts, entertainment, haute couture, luxury as well as moderate housing and exciting Fortune 500 businesses. Boutiques, pubs, and bistros front the tree-lined streets or are at the end of a trolley ride into other shopping areas. Residents and newcomers might even dine and shop in their own multi-use buildings.

Uptown is Unique Because?

When the grass upon which a town or development is built is almost 160 years old, it goes through several changes. What is now Uptown wasn’t even part of Dallas until about 20 years ago. It began its career as a land grant back in the late 1800s. Following the Civil War, the area was split between freed blacks and Mexican immigrants. The Freedman’s cemetery became famous when roads across it were being planned. Until the early 1990s, the land had nothing to do, until urban developers snapped it up, renamed it Uptown and began attracting developers and businesses.

Uptown Lifestyle

Socializing is important to everyone, lest we revert to being hermits in caves. That’s no fun. When people walk the streets of Uptown, they have dogs with them, sometimes children, and all the time they are talking to each other. It’s a laid-back lifestyle: homey, friendly and casual. Most people would think that a city neighborhood would have little grass or green spaces, but Uptown has plenty of grass upon which to have a picnic lunch packed by a trendy pub in Miss Brinkley’s “white bread world”, watch the birds or just commune with oneself. There is also a selection of spas, salons, and gyms for residents and newcomers to remain healthy and fit.
