Caruth Hills - Located on the edge of University Park, these Dallas real estate listings get the benefits of zoning to the Highland Park ISD.  Some of the lower priced listings in Dallas Caruth Hills area are zoned to the Dallas Independent School District.  However, most buyers choose this area of Dallas because of the houses zoned to Highland Park ISD.  When looking in Caruth Hills, buyers can expect to pay over $1,000,000 for the properties which fall into the Highland Park schools.  With the price of $1,000,000 plus, these buyers will find homes over 4000 square feet.

Devonshire - One of Dallas' more popular pocket neighborhoods, Devonshire homes for sale in Dallas are located near Highland Park, on the west side of the North Dallas Tollway.  The average prices in Devonshire run around $1,500,000 and the area rarely has listings under the $1,000,000 mark.  Although zoned to the Dallas Independent School District, the area offers access to some of the best private schools in the area.  Buyers also enjoy Devonshire real estate due to its close proximity to the North Dallas Tollway, downtown Dallas and Love Field Airport.

Disney Streets - A really "cool" pocket area of Dallas homes located in the Northwest area of the city.  These houses for sale on the Disney Streets are predominately ranch style and mid-century modern houses built when that style was most popular in Dallas - around the 1960's. The area of the Disney Streets tries hard to maintain its original character of the homes.  However, some new construction builds do exist in the area, but buyers will still mostly find those ranch and mid-century modern properties they are seeking.   Prices on these run a buyer from approximately $500,000 to $800,000, with new construction pricing over $1,000,000.

Downtown Dallas - When buyers want Downtown Dallas, what they are mainly describing are condos.  Downtown will offer buyers some great selections of condos, townhouses and lofts.  Most condos and townhouses in Downtown will price from approximately $200,000 to $600,000.  However, some of the penthouse units in downtown buildings can run over $1,000,000.

Greenland Hills - The original section now known as Dallas' M Streets, the homes in Dallas Greenland Hills are protected as a conservation district.  Dating as far back as almost a century, these properties offer buyers an excellent opportunity to purchase an original piece of Dallas.  The listings in Greenland Hills are mostly of Tudor and Craftsman Style which are styles of original architecture a lot of buyers still desire.

Dallas was originally founded because of its unique location. It offered many advantages for traders because it was located on the Preston Trail and was a great river crossing location. In just 18 years, the city was officially incorporated as Dallas, with an original population of just 2,000. The following year, the city was growing so quickly that it was experiencing a housing shortage. Like the rest of the country, Dallas experienced difficult hardship during the Great Depression. However, oil was eventually discovered and the city was reborn once more.

From this point, small businesses were able to establish themselves in the city and the population continued to grow. Today, we still see the effects of a booming economy throughout the city. It has grown to be the nation's third-largest technology center and is home to over 100,000 businesses and 1,500 corporate headquarters, making it 4th on Forbes list of corporate headquarters.

Housing Market

Since Dallas is such a growing city, the housing market is always seeing huge expansions. Late in 2015, home sellers in North Dallas were especially seeing a booming housing market. Often, they were given multiple offers that were over their original asking price. In fact, the entire area was seeing a housing shortage, which caused prices to soar by around 8.7%.

Naturally, the city saw a huge decrease in home prices during the Great Recession. But, since that time, home prices have risen 15% from where they were before the recession began. Denver and Austin are also cities that are recovering from the recession well, but they are currently only at 13% above original home prices.

Some were concerned about this huge uptick in home purchases and prices, saying it was possible the housing market would eventually lose momentum. However, analysts say this will not be the case because of the number of jobs that are continually being added.

Along with presenting great opportunities to its residents, Dallas is also a great city because of the many amenities it has to offer. Here are some of the things you will be able to experience when you move to the city.

School Districts

The largest school district in Dallas is the Dallas Independent School District. It consists of 238 schools and is responsible for the bulk of the city's education system. Over the years, this school district has gone to great lengths to cut down on the number of drop-outs it sees. Its hard work paid off and by 2009 the graduation rate went up 43.5%. From this point, Dallas schools continue to improve and have shown great progress.

Now, there are a number of top rated schools in the district. For example, for elementary children, Mcculloch Intermediate, Hyer Elementary and George Bannerman Dealey are all schools that have high test scores and ratings. There are also a number of specialty schools that parents can choose for their children, such as the School of Science and Engineering, the School of Health Professions and the School for the Talented and Gifted. These all help prepare high school students for a specific path after graduation.

Arts, Music and Entertainment

When it comes to entertainment, arts and music, Dallas is a great place to be.
