McKinney Texas Real Estate

McKinney TX homes for sale are located in the suburb of McKinney, Texas and located north of the City of Dallas in Collin County along I75 north of Plano. McKinney is the county seat of Collin County and only second in population to Plano in Collin County.

McKinney offers price ranges and styles of living for almost all buyers.  However, please know that building and home owner association rules can be tight in McKinney and buyers will mostly find houses in the traditional architectural style.  If buyers are seeking more contemporary or modern types of design, McKinney is not the area.

McKinney real estate is more of a quiet, suburban style of living, full of traditional brick houses in what is considered one of the better and safer suburbs in Dallas - Fort Worth.

When searching for a home in McKinney, the best place to start is within the price range you are seeking.  The higher the price range, the more amenities, bedrooms, bathrooms, upgrades, square footage, bonus rooms like media rooms and game rooms a buyer is likely to find.

Luxury Homes Over $750,000

Luxury properties in McKinney Texas will price over the $750,000 range and will generally offer buyers square footage ranges of over 5000 square feet, four or more bedrooms, four or more bathrooms, luxury upgrades like granite, marble, natural stone flooring, wood flooring, iron banisters, chef's kitchens with lots of storage, butler's pantries, large kitchen islands, three or more car garages and larger lots.  The exterior finishes of the luxury McKinney real estate will generally have outdoor living areas, possibly fireplaces and custom pools.  The lot sizes for McKinney luxury listings will also be more generous in size.

The recommended neighborhoods for finding these luxury properties in McKinney are as follows: Kings Lake, Adriatica Villas, Waterstone Estates, Settlement at Craig Ranch, Residences at Grand Lodge, Tucker Hill, Wellington Point, Serenity, Isleworth and Rolling Meadows Estates.

$500,000 to $750,000

Like many of the luxury homes in McKinney mentioned above, houses within this pricing range will have upgrades like granite, stainless appliances, hardwood and natural stone flooring and more.  The lots will generally not be as large and the square footage of the properties tend to be a bit smaller.  Within this price range, a buyer may certainly live comfortably and well.  The subdivisions and neighborhoods will, again, be considered safe, quiet and family friendly.

The neighborhoods and subdivisions to start with at this price range of real estate in McKinney are as follows: Kings Lake, Craig Ranch, Wellington Point, The Cascades, Lakeside Crossing, Newport Village, Lacima, Harbor at Adriadica, Stone Hollow, Clifton Park, McKinney Outlots, Timber Crossing, Eldorado Lakes, Wiskbrook Estates, Stratford Manor, Bluffs at Winding Creek, Hillscreek at Stonebridge, Sorrellwood Park, Waddill and Waterbury.

$250,000 to $500,000

McKinney listings for sale priced $250,000 to $500,000 may need updating and are generally going to be a little older in construction than the category of properties mentioned above.  Properties in this price range are located in the following neighborhoods: Saddlebrook Crossing, Shiloh Ranch, Sorrellwood Park, Estates of Verona, Wynnridge Estates, Craig Ranch, Settlement at Craig Ranch, Saddlehorn Creek, Village Park, Aspendale, Trinity Falls, Brightwood and Wiskbrook Estates.

Buyers in this range can find new construction on both one or two story plans and houses built anywhere between the 1990's to new.

With scenic natural parks, fun activities, great restaurants, and a range of housing options, it's no wonder that McKinney ranked as the #1 Best Place to Live by Money Magazine in 2014.  McKinney was recently ranked well by D Magazine for one of the best suburbs in Dallas - Fort Worth.

Residents of McKinney are served by the following government agencies - City of McKinney, McKinney Independent School District, McKinney Police Department, McKinney Fire Department and the McKinney Municipal Court.  Keeping up with happenings in and around the McKinney area is easy with the city's official social media feeds on Twitter & Facebook.  Also, if you like your news from a news outlet, see the McKinney Courier Gazette Newspaper website.

According to the most recent US Census data on McKinney, McKinney had a population of just over 131,000 people with a median income close to $82,000.

A town called Buckner was once the county seat of Collin County, but when the legislature decided that the seat must be within three miles of the county's center, it meant a new location needed to be chosen. It came down to what is now McKinney and an area near Sloan's Grove (now Fairview). But when heavy rains forced voters from Sloan's Grove to stay home, McKinney easily won the vote. Texas Legislature went on to name the city after Collin McKinney who was a pioneer and land surveyor who helped draft the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico in 1836.

Why are residents happy to call it home?

The McKinney School District has earned several awards and honors such as coming in #47 in Texas on the 2014 U.S News & World Report's High School Rankings List, and receiving the Sunny Award for Top Governmental Transparency Website (it was the only district in the state to earn an A+ rating in 2014). It educates over 24,000 students at twenty elementary schools, five middle schools, and three high schools.
