Buyers can expect to find luxury amenities in the Highland Park ISD homes of this price.  Some of the houses were constructed as far back as the 1940's.  However, home buyers may also find new construction in Highland Park ISD which generally have an average price of over $2,000,000.  These new construction listings in the school district zoning are built by custom home builders and the price of the "dirt" alone makes these properties sale at very high prices.  Homes in Highland Park ISD offer buyers large square footage, access to an exceptionally rated school district, a tight-knit community and more.

The Highland Park ISD first opened in 1914 with one building on Cornell Avenue.  It has since grown to one high school, one middle school, one intermediate school and four elementary schools.

In May of 2015, Highland Park Superintendent Dawson Orr notified school district authorities that he was leaving his post as Superintendent to take a job at nearby SMU.  Following Orr's departure for his new job at SMU, the Highland Park ISD School Board unanimously voted to offer the vacated Superintendent job to Tom Trigg, an educator from Overland Park, Kansas.  Trigg will receive a $325,000 per year salary with his new position at Highland Park ISD.

Each year, Highland Park ISD Education Foundation and the Highland Park PTA do a fundraiser for children throughout the district called "Mad for Plaid."  The Mad for Plaid campaign recently raised over $2,000,000 which goes towards teachers' salaries, technological improvements in the classrooms and other educationally related ventures for Highland Park Schools.  You can drive through the town on any given day and see the Mad for Plaid signs in the yards of many of the local homes.

In June of 2015, Highland Park ISD proposed a $358 million dollar bond package to overhaul all current campuses and add a new elementary school.  This will be the first new school added to the district in almost six decades.  The plan calls for expansions to multiple campuses - Highland Park High School, Highland Park Middle & Intermediate schools, rebuilding three existing elementary schools - Bradfield Elementary, Hyer Elementary and University Park Elementary.  Homes with children in these specific areas will more than likely be affected with temporary schooling options of relocating schools for a year or so while the construction is completed.

Homes for sale in Highland Park ISD allow buyers a lot of choices of properties including but not limited to the following styles: New construction, Tudor, Contemporary and Modern, Craftsman style, French style, Traditional, condos, townhouses and Mediterranean.
